The Untold Truth....secret even

Sh sh everyone…Ok (lowers voice) I’m going to tell you something but I want you to read carefully because not everyone will tell you this. You must dig deeper, don’t just scratch the surface. Those magazines, fashionistas, and wretched shops are all sat there telling you cool is this + that and somehow you always seem to look nice but never different. Here’s what those sods aren’t telling you (why? Because they need you to need them and perpetuate the demand for what it is they are supplying). Its quite simple, there are songs, people, places, words, eras, smells, emotions that bring you an inspiring reverie and those my friend are the very patches of who you are…and at the very least they should be the inspiration for everything you do. What they don’t tell you is that what you choose to wear should be a direct and parallel clothing translation – that is, if you want to be unique.

Because we are beautifully human, your patches are different from the next, and what makes you *cool is the fact that you are not a carbon copy of a style you saw between glossy, tempting papers or someone you saw somewhere. Trust me, for fashions sake at least.

Stop thinking of clothes as a practicality but rather a conduit for visual expression so when you listen to that song you love (real love that is, not trend masquerading as pseudo love) or anything else that conjures passionate emotion wear it! Look for it in shops, online, markets, best friend’s closet, make it, whatever. Literally wear your heart on your sleeve! That my friend will make you distinctly you (not v2.0 of Glamour or inStyle).

The best thing about this approach: the possibilities are infinite, eclectic as the vast organisms of earth alone and completely and unashamedly applicable to anything! Just look at Dita Von Teese, Gwen Stefani, Andre 3000, Vivienne Westwood, Anna Piaggi, Yu Masui or Susie Bubble...I'm sure you can figure out just what they love or who they are by what they wear.
