Ring of a Rose

I think I took the goat and its milk when I made this ring. But my golly who cares that it's bigger than my fist, it is truly gorgeous and so romantic. I call it 'Excusez Moi' because it politely tells you to give it attention and room. If it were a person it would be half Audrey Hepburn, half Carrie Bradshaw and would on this occassion go home to No.5, Sex and The City Drive where sitting on her classic chaise lounge, wearing 40's silk vintage under garments she hand writes letters to her lover with perfect joint writing on perfumed dusky rose paper. Oui, great things happen in my head!

BUT have I got more news for you...for the Merci Me Sale on the 30th Jan this ring will be making its debut at that sale!

Might I add, I have a tip/suggestion: If you're liking the huge bows on alice bands but can not for the life of you rationalise handing over £20 for it, get a scarf, roll it, wrap it around your head (back to front) and knot the biggest bow you can make....voila

La Vie Vogue

Season greetings beautiful people,

You'll be giddy to know I'm planning a Merci Me end of January sale. There'll be some pieces from the summer collection and some other treasures you may not have seen. I'm also taking requests (for some things you may have seen on the blog) so be sure to take a look at the blog and the '09 summer collection - I've posted pictures on my group page. I have a few men's tees left so gents come forth.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE...This will be the first time I'll be selling my statement jewellery. Think Cabochons, Jackie necklaces, HUGE rings, Chintz, Kitsch and all things wonderland.

STILL MORE?....Yes. But of course. Bring your old limp clothes for a style update since there'll be a 'Customise Me' service. For those looking for a bespoke clothing or outfit, then this is the perfect opportunity for you to meet with me and talk about getting a fashion fingerprint.

ALSO...Just for you, I've wrangled a seller stocking only designer vintage. Some new some used...everything from designer jeans to designer shoes. And I may also get some other ecclectic sellers. I'll be sure to let you know if I do.

IT DOESN'T STOP THERE...I want to get in some cupcakes? or if you have any suggestions let me know...if there's anything you've been looking for and can't find tell me, I may have it or find it for you, but you will have to let me know before the 4th of Jan. Email me - mercime@gmail.com.

THE CLIMAX...Everything is selling at a discount price. Call it your present from Me Me

LOGISTICS: The date is likely to be Sat 30th of Jan but the venue has yet to be confirmed. I'm steering towards a trendy bar probably in the region of Portobello, Ladbroke Grove and Kilburn, so you can buy some (maybe Merci Me themed) cocktails while you shop....how great would that be? let me know!

FINE PRINT: It's a cash only sale, but if it's in a bar then they'll accept cards for drinks.

So tell all and all (of which you think would be interested)...tell 'em to join the group (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=202946456144&ref=ts), read the blog (blog.mercime.co.uk), come to the sale...they are ensured to at least enjoy one.

Your invitation is soon to come, but feel free to message me with any requests/queries/questions or simply post a comment for all to see.

AOB...I'm sweating on a brand new site so if you try www.mercime.co.uk you won't get far. But you will be happy with the facelift (hopefully) And I'll let you know when the stitches are out.

Adieu for now.

This little piggie went to market...

and bought a beautiful fuchsia pink fluffy knit cardigan. My love affair with Portobello spans over a decade so I was flabbercasted when I saw the price tag (this can't be for no name, no wash care label vintage)...I knew Porto when he wasn't this expensive, I suppose he's moved up in the world and years of love means nothing. Paper talks...but so does haggling and on this occasion it was the strongest of communication. I swear I had no control of my logical functions because what was supposed to be an economical meet a friend for lunch was actually piggie market shopping. Oh, who was I fooling? Even the goose bumps on my arms knew money would be spent, logic lost and there would be more than one desire. Second of which was an Afghan ring tweeting at my instincts until I found it. How could I ignore its cries of longing and walk away? To ignore birdsong is a crime. Especially Dickie's song - is what I affectionately call him now. You may not see him clearly but there he is perched so comfortably on my left hand.

Granny Stylee

I have to be honest with you, the streets of London are filled with pretty stylish OAPs (Old Aged People) and I can't help but love and be inspired by their get ups. The other day I saw a Gran with a emerald green mac, yellow blouse (probably viscose) and a pale pink pencil skirt, I mean the colours seem so incoherent and abstract but it sang a harmonious tune carried with historical and wholesome undertones - I could have just died by how instyle she was and the wacky think is she didn't know it. That's just it, they have an OAP (Old and Priceless) wardrobe which is the golden grail for the portobello shopper, the vintage vamp and the quirky off the beaten track dresser. I suppose at her age stylish Gran has no reason to dress for motive (be it attraction, work, facade) so her style was completely her own.

Far from jumping out my car and giving her a grand daughter hug I smiled and continued onwards. She touched me though, anonymous stylish gran is the reason I'm currently experiencing what is the true vintage meglomania....the Granny style. I'm not armed with a Gran (that is alive) and so I don't have the, or access to the OAP wardrobe but I do have portobello! And in it, I found two OAP jumpers (that I seem to wear in the house, to work, for drinks, to parties...I could just sleep in them but I don't want to spoil them. Go to John Lewis, you will find loads of stylish grans and you can find loads of stylish granny hats, bags and clothes (that's where I picked up the purple arm candy). My boots are worn purple/pink suede boots (bought new from office a while back) that provides the 'I've been on a journey' note. To carry this look off I just kept on my hair net and gave it a 'right now' twist with the dress, the ring and earrings. I love clothes!
